CDT Volunteer Day and Trail Celebration
September 28, 9 am – 4 pm, Hopewell Lake Campground, Tres Piedras, NM
This National Public Lands Day, CDTC is celebrating the completion of more than 100 miles of the Continental Divide Trail through the Carson National Forest! From 9-1, volunteer to put the finishing touches on over a decade of trailwork to build this section of the CDT. After the service project, they’ll officially designate this section of the Trail and celebrate with free hot dogs and activities for the whole family. You can even make your own CDT ornament to be hung on the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C. this winter! Grand County National Public Lands Day
September 28, 9 am – 7 pm, Granby, CO
Join Grand County’s 25th annual NPLD celebration! They’ll be at the Onahu Trail doing maintenance on a piece of the CDT in Rocky Mountain National Park. Project work will include constructing water bars or other erosion control measures, grubbing, clearing and a possible trail re-route. Registration begins at 7 am at the Inn at Silvercreek, 62927 US Hwy 40, Granby, CO 80446.
Diverse Voices Unite at the Continental Divide
September 28, 12 – 4 pm, Hidden Valley Picnic Area, Rocky Mountain National Park
CDTC is partnering up with Americas for Conservation + the Arts to celebrate National Public Lands Day in Rocky Mountain National Park! Enjoy free entrance and a day full of service, free food, forest bathing, and Native American history and storytelling. BONUS: Sign up for the cleanup day at Beaver Point here.
CDT Reroute at Togwotee Pass
September 28, 10 am – 3 pm, Togwotee Pass, WY
Join the Bridger-Teton National Forest Blackrock Ranger District for a CDT reroute project on Togwotee Pass. They’ll be restoring an old road by improving drainage and covering it with debris, and will also put in some CDT sign posts. After the work is done, enjoy a short hike to Togwotee Pass to see where the Trail continues to its new course.
CDT Project at Lemhi Pass
September 28, 9 am – 4 pm, Lemhi Pass, ID/MT
In Idaho and Montana, the BLM will be leading a volunteer project to work on the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail along beautiful Lemhi Pass. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Public Lands Center (1206 South Challis Street, Salmon, ID 83647) to carpool to this volunteer project, or contact Travis Seaberg, 208-756-5412, [email protected].
Cuba Trails Day Celebration
Friday, September 27 – Saturday September 28, Cuba, NM
On Friday morning, help restore a trail at the Richard W. Becker Nature Area and see the future route of the Continental Divide Trail. In the afternoon, we’ll celebrate the completion of the Cuba re-route of the CDT with food, a host of speakers celebrating public lands in NM, and the live sounds of Holy Water and Whiskey. On Saturday Morning, meet at the Las Vacas – San Gregorio Lake Trailhead and be one of the first folks to hike on the new section of the CDT! Find out more about the weekend’s festivities here.
