Devil’s Thumb Fire Closure Lifted

July 27, 2023

Updated 8/3/2023: The Devil’s Thumb Fire on Sulphur Ranger District, originally reported on July 4, 2023, was called 100% contained as of yesterday evening, August 2, 2023. Thanks to the efforts of all who worked on this fire, the Devil’s Thumb fire closure has been lifted and the trails have been opened.

While many mitigation efforts have been completed along the trails that are reopening, the public is warned that standing dead and burned trees are very unstable and can fall without warning at any time.
