Join CDTC for community hikes as part of Cibola Trail Days! Experience the beauty of Cibola County trails along the CDT and connect with local cultural heritage alongside fellow outdoor enthusiasts! Our community hikes are designed for all skill levels and registration is not required. Each hike is led by experienced guides passionate about the outdoors and eager to share their knowledge about the CDT.

Directions: From Interstate I-40 take exit 81 and head south on NM 53 for 16.3 miles and turn left into the
Zuni/Acoma Trailhead parking lot.
Hike Details:
Trail Difficulty: Hard
This hike will be a 7.5-mile trek across the El Malpais Natl. Monument from the Zuni/Acoma Trailhead on NM 53 to the Acoma/Zuni Trailhead
on NM 117. The hike will travel through the lava beds and some grassland areas. We will shuttle people back to their vehicles at the end of the hike.
If some participants choose to hike back to Zuni/Acoma trailhead they are more than welcome to at anytime during the hike,
but it is encouraged that all participants complete the entire 7.5 mile hike one way for safety concerns.
**All participants will need to bring a lunch with them and plenty of water, since the hike will take
anywhere from 6 to 8 hours to complete.
Participants are encouraged to bring a backpack and leather gloves.
Trail Cautions:
Jagged lava along most of the entire hike.
Snakes/reptiles
Incumbent weather (be prepared for rain showers that may occur)
