Voice Support for the CDT Today!
Next week, CDTC staff will be in Washington, DC for Hike the Hill, a week of advocating for the CDT, public lands, and trails across the country.
We will meet with the offices of Senators and Representatives from all five CDT states and both sides of the aisle.
We need your help!
As a constituent of the elected officials that we’ll be meeting with, your voice matters.
You can support the CDT by emailing or calling your elected officials in the next week using this script (or, describing your own reasons for loving and caring about the CDT!):
You can find contact information for your elected officials in the table below or using these links: Senate, House of Representatives.
Dear [Senator/ Representative] [Member of Congress’s Last Name],
I am a member of the community of [town name], located within your district. I am writing to thank you for your ongoing support of the Continental Divide Trail, and to ask you to continue strengthening outdoor recreation in my community.
The Continental Divide Trail (CDT) is a place of connection for my community. I am asking for your support of the following items:
- Support and co-sponsor the CDT Completion Act, which will direct the Departments of Agriculture and the Interior to complete the CDT by relocating the remaining 5% of the trail off of highways and busy roadways, making for a safer and more enjoyable CDT experience.
- Support the America the Beautiful Act to extend the Legacy Restoration Fund, creating additional funding to address the deferred maintenance buildup on America’s public lands, including the CDT.
- Support the National Trails System and public lands through robust funding and staffing for land management agencies.
The CDT is integral to the culture, history, landscape, and economy of my community. Please take action to support it!
Thank you,
[Your Name]
