CDT Endowment Fund
The CDT Endowment was established in 2022 to secure permanent resources for the protection of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. Gifts to the CDT Endowment ensure the long-term sustainability and protection of the trail. Your donation to the CDT Endowment creates a lasting legacy that helps protect the CDT for future generations, in perpetuity.

This fund was established by the Winchester Family Foundation in 2022 to support ongoing trail signage needs along the CDT.
Robert J. Weggel CDT Legacy Fund
Established by Robert J. Weggel in 2022 to support legacy projects with profound, long-term impact to the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, and to encourage others to do the same.

Make a gift in honor or memory of someone
The CDT is a national treasure that has and continues to inspire thousands of people from all walks of life. Making a donation to CDTC to honor or remember a loved one is a special and unique way to demonstrate your admiration for their passion for the CDT, and all gifts go directly to supporting the trail. CDTC is also happy to send an acknowledgement of your gift to your loved one or their next of kin.

Donate a gift of stock
Making a gift of stock is an easy and meaningful way to help protect the CDT. If you are interested in donating stock to CDTC, please provide the following information to your broker:

Include CDTC in your will or trust
Including the CDTC in your will or trust is a great way to leave a legacy of environmental stewardship for the Trail you love. Your gift will help ensure the long term protection of the Continental Divide Trail for future generations to enjoy. To include CDTC in your will or trust, use this simple language:
“I/We give and bequeath ____________________________ [a specific dollar amount or percentage of estate] to the Continental Divide Trail Coalition, a nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation (federal tax ID: 45-5051775) with a principal business address of 710 10th Street, Unit 200, Golden, CO 80401”

Donate through your Donor Advised Fund
Establishing a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a great way to support the nonprofits you care about, including CDTC! Plus, you may claim a federal charitable income tax deduction each year you contribute to your DAF and can distribute the funds to CDTC and other organizations you care about on your own timeline. If you have or plan to set up a DAF, please consider recommending distributions from your Fund to CDTC! Your fund manager will take care of the rest and the CDT will directly benefit from your generosity.
Donation through your IRA
If you are 70 ½ or older and have a traditional or Roth IRA, you can make one-time or recurring tax free donations to CDTC of up to $100,000! You can easily transfer funds to the Continental Divide Trail Coalition (Federal EIN: 45-5051775) – simply contact your plan administrator and have them send a check to:
