2026 Buck and Rail Construction with Friends of the Dillon Ranger District
Buck and Rail fencing is a type of wooden fencing commonly used at trailheads on the Dillon Ranger District. The “bucks” are the braces that hold the logs “rails” across the fencing structure. It is used to prevent further resource damage from cars and social trail creation at trailheads.
Help us protect sensitive alpine habitat and watershed areas at Warden Gulch (off Peru Creek Road) by building buck-and-rail fencing and putting up signage. This hands-on stewardship project will focus on installing fencing to guide recreation use and prevent resource damage in fragile environments. No prior experience needed—tools, training, and guidance provided! Sign up here today!
We are pleased to be working with Friends of the Dillon Ranger District, more about their org online at https://fdrd.org/.
