Date: August 9, 2026

Time: 10:00AM-3:00PM

Location: Canjilon Lakes (Meeting Location: Lower Canjilon Lakes Campground, Canjilon, NM 87515)

Event Overview:

Join the Community of Chama, the Citizens Alliance of Northern New Mexico, and the Continental Divide Trail Coalition (CDTC) for Chama’s Annual Stewardship Event at beautiful Canjilon Lakes on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM!

Help us care for one of northern New Mexico’s treasured outdoor spaces by participating in a community-wide cleanup around all three Canjilon Lakes. Whether you’re a local resident, trail enthusiast, or simply looking for a meaningful way to give back, we’d love to have you join us.

After the cleanup, volunteers are invited to enjoy a complimentary BBQ hosted by CDTC as a thank-you for helping keep our public lands beautiful.

Following lunch, the Community of Chama and the Multicultural Alliance for a Safe Environment (MASE) will lead a presentation on proposed mining developments in the Carson National Forest. Attendees will learn more about the issue and receive information on how to engage with New Mexico’s state leaders and elected representatives.
