Cuba Stewardship Event

Date: August 1, 2026

Time: 10:00AM-3:00PM

Location: Becker Mesa Trailhead (NM 550) & Nacimiento Mine (NM 126)

(Meeting Location: Forest Service Office, 4 Co. Rd. 11, Cuba NM 87013)

Event Overview:

Join the Town of Cuba and the Continental Divide Trail Coalition (CDTC) for a day of stewardship as we work together to improve two important sections of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail and surrounding public lands on Saturday, August 1, 2026!

Volunteers will meet at 9:00 AM at the U.S. Forest Service Office (4 County Road 11, Cuba, NM) before heading out to the day’s stewardship projects.

Projects will include:

  • Becker Mesa Trailhead (NM 550): Light trail maintenance, including brush removal along a ½-mile loop to improve trail visibility and navigation.
  • Nacimiento Mine (NM 126): Clearing brush at the trail entrance to make it more visible and accessible for CDT hikers and other recreational users.

Stewardship activities will take place from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM as part of the Sandoval County Fair, offering a great opportunity to give back to the trail while enjoying one of Cuba’s signature community events.

Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or lending a hand for the first time, we’d love to have you join us in caring for the Continental Divide Trail!
