Are you planning a day or weekend hike on the CDT with kids? It can be hard to know where to start planning a visit to a 3,100-mile trail! Here are a few resources to get you started:
- Pick a Hike: Our Hike Suggestions page allows you to sort CDTC-recommended hikes on the CDT by state and to apply the “Family Friendly” filter. You can also download our Day & Overnight Hiking Guides, which are organized by state. Available in English and Spanish, the guide includes options ranging from short day hikes to overnight adventures!
- Get Excited and Informed: Visit the CDT Families page to download a family-friendly CDT Crossword Puzzle. The puzzle will help young hikers understand their upcoming adventure in the context of the 3,100-mile CDT. Then, print the CDT Bingo Card and complete it as a group before and during your time on the trail.
- Learn About Responsible Recreation: Recommended for ages 7-12, Peak Online, created by Leave No Trace, includes videos and activities to help kids understand how to protect the places they love.
Most importantly, have fun – no one is too young to enjoy the magic of the CDT!
