Faces Of The CDT | Elsye Walker
When I hiked the Continental Divide Trail in 2017, I was so pumped about how far I’d come as a “solo” thru-hiker. By hiking the Trail, I was closing in on becoming not only a Triple Crowner, but also the first African-American woman to complete the Triple Crown. Stepping off from Crazy Cook I was carrying something heavier than my pack. The CDT was about to school me. The thing about a thru-hike is you have GO through it. By going through it emotionally, physically, and mentally my perspective changed, and I found what I didn’t know I was looking for.
