Pride on the Divide

Join for Events, Community Hikes, and More

CDTC envisions a more equitable future for open lands: one in which all people are able to enjoy all the benefits of the Continental Divide landscape. Pride on the Divide recognizes that Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Asexual, Two Spirit, and other members of the LGBTQIA2S+ Community are an integral part of the past, present, and future of the CDT community. CDTC hosts Pride on the Divide every year to celebrate LGBTQIA2S+ members of our trail community and to invite the CDT trail community to join us in continuing to ensure that the CDT Experience is one that is safe, accessible, and enjoyable for all.

Share Your Story

We want to hear from you! CDTC knows that the CDT holds a feeling of joy, transformation, connectedness, and community for many of the 2SLGBTQIA+ who travel the CDT tread, live in CDT communities, and steward the trail. We want to elevate and celebrate the stories and perspectives that illustrate why the CDT Experience can be enjoyed by all people.

Get Involved

CDTC staff, partners, volunteers, and community ambassadors will host community hikes, picnics, and other ways to engage and connect with other members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Primarily during the summer months, you can find all the Pride on the Divide events happening along the trail.

Promote Pride On The Divide

Pride on the Divide stickers and postcards are available online in the CDTC online store. Visitor centers, partners, and local businesses in communities along the CDT may also have stickers or postcards available to purchase or distribute, but not guaranteed.

Businesses interested in purchasing a supply of Pride on the Divide stickers and postcards can reach out to: [email protected].

Transgender Flag

Cal Dobbs

In August 2022, Cal Dobbs became the first known transgender person to complete the Triple Crown, completing the CDT, AT, and PCT. Here, Cal shares his story to kick off CDTC’s Pride on the Divide!

If you have an idea for a Pride on the Divide event in your community, let us know! Events don’t have to be only during Pride months, they can happen any time of the year, and they don’t have to only take place outdoors on the CDT; community-based events are great, too. Reach out with your ideas and we can try to help provide guidance, resources, and promotion to help connect the 2SLGBTQIA+ CDT community in your area.

We want to hear from you!

CDTC knows that the CDT holds a feeling of joy, transformation, connectedness, and community for many of the 2SLGBTQIA+ who travel the CDT tread, live in CDT communities, and steward the trail. We want to elevate and celebrate these stories and perspectives, and share why the CDT Experience is one that can be enjoyed by all people.

And you can share challenges, too! The CDT is full of ups and downs (literally) and we recognize that sharing your success as well as challenges is reflective of a true CDT experience. Stories of the queer community in the outdoors have historically not been represented, which can make adventures like exploring the CDT more intimidating and less welcoming.

We hope we can help to overcome this potential barrier by sharing stories from 2SLGBTQIA+ people who have been on the ridgelines of the CDT, the main street of Gateway Communities, and all the places in between.
