A Celebration of the Continental Divide Trail

Come celebrate the Continental Divide Trail and its connection to the local community of Steamboat Springs as the “hiker bubble” comes through Colorado! Events throughout the weekend will include educational opportunities with the Yampa Valley Crane Festival, a kickoff party, community stewardship event, vendor expo, and the last FREE Concert Series of the summer. Designed to meet people where they are during the busy hiking season, the program will engage concertgoers, local residents, and visitors—many of whom may be unfamiliar with the CDT—with accessible, inclusive, and family-friendly activities. The event promotes awareness of the trail, fosters local pride in Steamboat Springs’ designation as a CDT Gateway Community, and encourages long-term engagement through volunteerism and stewardship geared towards trail completion efforts at Muddy Pass, the last major gap along the CDT in Colorado.

Thursday Sept 3 - Sunday Sept 6, 2026 | 15th Annual Yampa Valley Crane Festival

The 15th annual Yampa Valley Crane Festival runs throughout the weekend with additional activities and events. Join them for guided crane viewings, bird walks, expert speakers, live raptors, films, family activities, and more. Friday Sept 4, 2026 | 4 - 7 PM MT | Friday Kickoff Party

Come kickoff the weekend with Storm Peak Brewing at 4-7pm. You won’t want to miss out on awesome films, speakers, specialty beers, and CDT giveaways!

Saturday Sept 5, 2026 | 9 AM - 1 PM MT | Community Stewardship Event

Start off Saturday with a stewardship event and hike with the Forest Service and local community partners like Yampatika and Routt County Riders.

Sunday Sept 6, 2026 | 10 AM MT | 10K at 10,000 Feet Race

For all the runners out there, don’t miss out on this family friendly 5K and 10K race along the CDT. Advanced registration required.

Enjoy the end of summer jam with Anders Osborne with food trucks, drinks, and thousands of your new best friends.

Head downtown early to snag a good spot — street parking and public lots are nearby, and Steamboat’s free bus service makes getting there a breeze.
